The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
You may experience a vehicle that has an intermittent battery lamp at times with a history code B1489 set in the battery generator control module. This concern may only be noticed after the Battery Generator Control Module (BGCM) has be replaced for another
issue.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Whenever the Battery Generator Control Module is replaced, The module needs to be SPS programmed before the vehicle is released to the customer. If the calibration was not completed properly or the vehicle left the dealer with the module not programmed,
a DTC B1489 code may be set followed by an intermittent battery lamp.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
