The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some customers may state that their Rear Seat Audio (RSA) is inoperative. The concern may have started after the RSA module was removed for a Service Procedure or replacement.
It is possible to seat the RSA module unevenly, the unevenness causes the buttons to bind together, and hence the RSA does not function properly causing a customer complaint. Because the buttons are binding, due to the uneven fastening, the RSA may temporally function like a bad unit.
If you experience this concern, remove the RSA bezel. If the RSA starts functioning correctly, remove the 4 mounting screws and remove the RSA unit. Install the RSA module back in the vehicle and equally fasten all 4 fasteners/both sides to ensure the RSA module sits evenly. Tighten the screws in a cross type pattern going from the left upper screw and then tightening the right lower screw. Then tighten the right upper screw and then the left lower screw. Then check button operation of the RSA unit.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
