Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 55489 Size: SH
  1. Remove the upper intake manifold cover.

    2. Object Number: 55503 Size: SH
  2. Open air bleed valve on top of the fuel manager/filter to release any pressure in the fuel supply system.

    3. Object Number: 55513 Size: SH
  3. Remove the mounting bolts that connect the fuel manager/filter to the intake manifold.

    4. Object Number: 55514 Size: SH
  4. Remove the wiring harnesses and fuel hoses.
  5. Remove the fuel manager/filter by lifting straight up.

    6. Object Number: 55496 Size: SH
  6. Remove the sensor mounting screws.

    7. Object Number: 55517 Size: SH
  7. Remove the sensor.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 55517 Size: SH
  1. Install new water in fuel sensor and a new water in fuel sensor seal.

    2. Object Number: 55496 Size: SH
  2. Instal the sensor mounting screws.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the mounting screws to 2 N·m (13 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Position the fuel manager/filter to the intake manifold.

    4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.   4. Install the wiring harnesses and fuel hoses.

    5. Object Number: 55513 Size: SH
  5. Install the mounting bolts that connect the fuel manager/filter to the intake manifold.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the mounting bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb. ft.).

  6. Bleed air from fuel manager/filter if necessary (Go to Fuel Supply System Air Bleed .
