The universal transmitter can be programmed to replace up to three hand-held transmitters, such as those used for garage door openers. The universal transmitter is powered by the vehicle's battery and the charging system. The effective transmission range of the universal transmitter may be different from the hand-held transmitter that the universal transmitter is replacing and from one channel to another.
Take the following precautions when you program a transmitter.
• | Do not use the universal transmitter with a garage door that does not have a stop and reverse feature. This includes any garage door opener that was manufactured before April 1, 1982. |
• | Ensure that all objects and people are clear of the garage door when you program the universal transmitter with a garage door opener. |
Use the following procedure in order to program a universal transmitter in order to replace a hand-held transmitter.
Release the buttons. This erases the transmitter's memory and any previous settings.
