Subject: | Fuel Gauge Does Not Read Full After Filling Tank (Reprogram PCM) |
Models: | 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe |
2004 GMC Yukon |
with 5.3L Engine (VIN Z -- RPO L59) |
Some customers may comment that the fuel gauge does not go to full immediately after filling. Instead, the fuel level indicator stops near full and then slowly moves to full.
A bubble may form over the fuel sender when the tank is filled causing the inaccurate fuel gauge readings.
Technicians are to reprogram the PCM with an updated software calibration. This new service calibration was released with TIS satellite data update version 9.5 available September 20, 2004. As always, make sure your Tech 2® is updated with the latest software version.
