The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Grinding or clash noise when shifting to 4WD low.
Recommendation/Instructions:
A software calibration was released on March 20, 2006, TIS Version 3.5, to address this concern. Reprogram transfer case control modules (TCCMs) on affected vehicles.
Reflash only affected vehicles with appropriate software provided. Tech 2 will show a menu screen where the technician can make a software selection. Do not reflash all vehicles with this software.
Make sure you have the latest versions of TIS2000 and your Tech 2® has the latest updates before attempting calibration updates.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
