The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
A dealer may find a water pump leak on a 2007 Cadillac, Chevrolet, or GMC Full Size Utility.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If a coolant leak has been verified on a 2007 full size utility check the vehicle build date. There was a update made on water pumps after the vehicle build date of 3-24-06. Complete a GMVIS on the vehicle and check the build date. If the vehicle was built before 3-24-06 continue repairs and replace the water pump.
If a water pump leak is found on a vehicle built after 3-24-06 please complete a Field Product Report using bulletin number 02-00-89-002D. Please give a good description of where the leak was found and the GMVIS vehicle build date.
Engineering is requesting water pumps found leaking after build date 3-24-06 be returned to the WPC for analysis.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
