Subject: | Difficulty Programming the TCCM |
Models: | 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche, Suburban and Tahoe |
2007 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL |
Equipped with 246EAU (RPO - NP8) Transfer Case |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Some dealers may comment about difficulty reprogramming the transfer case control module on 2007 models equipped with a NP8 transfer case. There are two reprogramming issues that deserve attention.
First, the system has recently changed and now requires the user to select the Operating System and then the Calibration before the reprogramming event can continue.
Secondly, there have been some techs that have had problems using the CD 4 April release. This is particularly true if you use the incremental download from the web.
The recommendation to all technicians at this time is to immediately update all PC's in the shop with CD version 5 or newer. Also, when reprogramming a transfer case control module remember to first select the operating system and then the calibration.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
