The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some customers may comment that the XM band is Inoperative or will display the XM band screen for 2-3 seconds and then switch back to the previous source on the radio. The customer may also notice a red OnStar LED when the concern is present.
Note: Please do not confuse this issue with the concern listed in PI: PIT3945C. The issue listed in PI: PIT3945C addresses a concern with the XM band changes to AM on it's own after you have already been listening to a XM station. The concern listed above is for XM being inoperative or not staying in the XM band for longer than 2-3 second.
Recommendation/Instructions:
If you experience this concern, check for the proper operation of the OnStar system. Address any concerns with the OnStar system prior to diagnosing or repairing the XM radio concern.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
