A condition exists where the passenger presence system (PPS) may continue to output a fault to the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) after the PPS has been cleared. The fault may continue to report to the SDM if the buss has not been allowed to go to
sleep prior to clearing B0081 DTC in the SDM.
If B0071, B0074 or B0081/0F is received, the following procedure should be followed to clear the codes.
- With the Ignition OFF, open and close the driver door.
- With a scan tool, clear PPS DTC (B0071 or B0074).
- While continuing to keep the doors closed, wait 60 seconds with the ignition OFF. DO NOT operate any functions in the vehicle during this time.
- Verify that the PPS does not have any DTCs. If PPS DTCs exist, please perform the necessary repair.
- With the scan tool, clear DTC B0081.
