This PI was superseded to update model years. Please discard PIT3866B.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

A few customers may comments about the SIR lamp flashing with no DTCs being reported. This concern may happen after the SDM has been replaced, reprogrammed or on a new vehicle.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Replacing the SDM will not correct this concern. To correct this concern perform the "Setup New SDM" under Module Setup with the Tech 2. The Tech 2 will need to be on software version 26.002 or later.

Important: Do not confuse the "Setup New SDM" procedure with either the normal programming procedure for the SDM in Tis2000 or with "Setup SDM Primary Key in BCM" in the Tech 2 under Module Setup.

Note:  When a SDM is replaced there are 3 steps which need to be performed in the following order:

  1. SPS program the SDM using Tis2000 and select "SDM" from the supported controller list.
  2. "Setup SDM Primary Key in BCM" using Tech 2 under Module Setup.
  3. "Setup New SDM" using Tech 2 under Module Setup. (Tech 2 must be on 26.002 or later)

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
