J 35539 Output Shaft Remover/Installer

  1. Move the manual shift lever to the park position so that the output shaft is locked and cannot turn.
  2. Remove staking from the reduction driven gear nut (7072).
  3. Loosen the reduction driven gear nut.

  4. Object Number: 143302  Size: SH

    Notice: Do not use excessive force when you are removing the reduction driven gear nut. Do not use a hammer on the wrench when you are loosening the nut. Use a socket wrench and apply a gentle pressure. Any excessive force may damage the parking lock pawl or the output shaft.

  5. Remove the reduction driven gear (7071).

  6. Object Number: 143303  Size: SH
  7. Remove the countershaft (7064) from the transaxle case by gently tapping with a rubber mallet.

  8. Object Number: 143305  Size: SH

    Notice: Do not tap on the output shaft itself. Tapping on the output shaft may cause damage to the shaft or to the bearing. Position the four tabs of the output shaft remover in the four notches of the transaxle case, and tap the outer race of the internal output shaft bearing from the inside of the transaxle case until the case can be removed.

  9. Using a J 35539 , remove the output shaft from the transaxle case (704).
