    Important: Position the gasket correctly so that the gasket does protrude inside the transaxle case.

  1. Install a new transaxle case housing gasket (702) to the transaxle case.
  2. Install the case housing (701) and position the housing on the transaxle case.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Important: Lubricate only the three Torx® bolts (703). Do not lubricate the other 11 bolts.

  4. Install 14 transaxle case housing bolts. Lubricate the threads of the three Torx® bolts with Loctite® pipe sealant GM P/N 1052080 or equivalent. Install these bolts in their proper positions, as shown in the illustration.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten all case housing bolts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
