New Product Information C/K, G Van

The purpose of New Product Information is to highlight or indicate important product changes from the previous model year.

Changes may include one or more of the following items:

    • Torque values and/or fastener tightening strategies
    • Changed engine specifications
    • New sealants and/or adhesives
    • Disassembly and assembly procedure revisions
    • Engine mechanical diagnostic procedure revisions
    • New special tools required
    • A component comparison from the previous year

Disassembly and Assembly Procedure Revisions

    • The repair procedures in the on-vehicle portion of the service manual have been updated to remove duplicate art and procedural steps.
    • The engine overhaul procedures in the unit repair portion of the service manual have been updated to remove duplicate art and procedural steps.

Component Comparison from the Previous Model Year

    • All SAE fasteners on the engine assembly have been updated to metric fasteners.
    • The water pump pulley is now press-fit to the water pump drive shaft. The water pump and pulley are now serviced as an assembly.
    • The turbocharger is now equipped with an integral Exhaust Pressure Regulator (EPR) Valve. The EPR valve is designed to aid in the reduction of white smoke at start up under extreme (cold) weather conditions. The EPR valve is controlled by the PCM. The EPR valve is serviced as part of the turbocharger assembly.
