  1. Remove the intermediate brake hub (2) and the intermediate one-way clutch from the intermediate brake (1).

    2. Object Number: 164399 Size: SH
  2. Inspect the intermediate brake piston operation by applying 392-785 kPa (57-114 psi) of compressed air into the intermediate brake apply passage (1). Ensure that the intermediate brake piston applies and releases smoothly.

  3. Remove the intermediate brake drum snap ring (1) from the transaxle case.

    4. Object Number: 164401 Size: SH
  4. Remove the intermediate brake drum (1) and the piston from the transaxle case (2).

    5. Object Number: 164402 Size: SH
  5. Remove the intermediate brake piston return spring (1) from the transaxle case (2).

    6. Object Number: 164403 Size: SH
  6. Remove the following components (1) from the transaxle case (2):
    7. • The 3 intermediate brake discs
    • The 3 intermediate brake plates
    • The intermediate brake flange
