Brake Release Switch Replacement Model
Removal Procedure
- Remove the driver side insulator panel if equipped. Refer to Closeout/Insulator
Panel Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
- Disconnect the upper switch electrical connector.
- Twist the upper brake release switch counter-clockwise. Remove
the brake release switch.
Installation Procedure
Important: When the brake pedal switches are installed, the brake pedal must remain
in the full up or at rest position, or damage to the brake system and/or switch
misadjustment can occur.
- Connect the upper brake release switch electrical connector.
- Install the upper brake release switch into the upper retainer.
Install the brake release switch connector in the 6 o'clock position.
Important: The brake release switch assembly and the stoplamp switch assembly must
not be adjusted until after the brake booster pushrod is assembled to the
brake pedal assembly. Incorrect adjustment can cause the cruise control
system to malfunction.
- Adjust the brake release switch. Refer to Brake Release Switch Adjustment.
- Install the driver side insulator panel. Refer to Closeout/Insulator
