Removal Procedure

    Caution: When you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, you must disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

  1. Remove the front bucket seat. Refer to [ADD LINK].
  2. Remove the seat back trim cover. Refer to [ADD LINK].

  4. Remove the push pin retainer (1) from the edge of the lower seat belt retractor trim cover (2).
  5. Release the rear of the lower seat belt retractor trim cover (2), and remove the trim cover (2).

  7. Remove the retainer clip from the recliner motor end of the recliner shaft.

  8. Object Number: 295194  Size: SH
  9. Slide the recliner shaft out of the recliner motor, (outboard side) far enough to clear the recliner motor, and the recliner sensor if equipped with memory seat .
  10. From beneath the seat, disconnect the electrical connector for the recliner motor, and the recliner sensor if equipped.
  11. Release the recliner sensor from the recliner motor, if equipped.

  13. Remove the fastener from the recliner motor.

  15. Remove the recliner motor from the seat back frame.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the recliner motor to the seat back frame.

  2. Object Number: 334287  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the recliner motor fastener.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the recliner motor fastener to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

    Connect the recliner motor electrical connector.

  5. If the vehicle is equipped with memory seats, install the recliner sensor to the recliner motor. [VEHICLE SPECIFIC]
  6. The recliner sensor snaps onto the recliner motor.

  7. Slide the recliner shaft back through the recliner sensor, if equipped, and the recliner motor.
  8. Connect the recliner sensor electrical connector, if equipped.

  10. Install the retaining clip to the recliner shaft.
  11. Install the seat back trim cover. Refer to [ADD LINK].

  13. Install the lower seat belt retractor trim cover (2).
  14. Install the push pin fastener (1)
  15. Install the front bucket seat. Refer to [ADD LINK].
