Removal Procedure

    Caution: When a lift window hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

    Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.

  1. Raise and support the liftgate window panel.
  2. Remove the headliner trim finishing panel. Refer to [ADD LINK].

  3. Object Number: 392580  Size: MH

    Caution: Do not attempt to remove or loosen gas support assembly attachments with glass in any position other than fully open as personal injury may result.

  4. Remove the liftgate strut ends (2) from the liftgate mounts (1) and allow the struts to rest in the rear compartment.

  5. Object Number: 330518  Size: SH
  6. Remove the harness conduit (2) from the vehicle body (3).

  7. Object Number: 392605  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the liftgate electrical connectors (4) from the body harness.
  9. Remove the fasteners (2) securing the liftgate to the body (3).
  10. Remove the liftgate from the vehicle.
  11. Remove the gaskets from the hinges.
  12. Transfer the liftgate parts as necessary.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the gaskets to the hinges.

  2. Object Number: 392605  Size: SH

    Caution: Do not attempt to remove or loosen gas support assembly attachments with glass in any position other than fully open as personal injury may result.

  3. With the aid of an assistant, install the liftgate to the vehicle.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the fasteners (2). in order to secure the liftgate (1) to the vehicle (3) and hand tighten.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Connect the liftgate electrical connectors (4) to the body harness.

  9. Install the harness conduit (2) to the body (3).

  10. Object Number: 392580  Size: MH
  11. Install the liftgate strut ends (2) to the liftgate mounts (1).
  12. Adjust the liftgate as necessary. Refer to [ADD LINK]
  13. Important:  A snap should be heard when the strut ends are fully seated. Verify that the strut ends are securely installed by tugging firmly on the strut ends.

  14. Install the headliner trim finishing panel. Refer to [ADD LINK] in Interior Trim.
