Removal Procedure

    Caution:  When a rear compartment lid hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  1. Raise convertible rear compartment lid and support.

    2. Object Number: 392598 Size: SH

    Important: A flat-blade screwdriver may be used if necessary to pry strut from mounts with care not to damage strut.

  2. Remove the rear lift panel strut (2) from both the rear compartment lid ball stud (1).
  3. Remove the rear lift panel strut (2) from the rear compartment ball stud (3).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 392598 Size: SH

    Important: Ensure the struts are securely installed before removing the hold open device.

  1. Install rear lift panel strut (2) to both the rear trunk lid (1) and the rear body mounts (3).
  2. Install the strut (2) to the rear compartment ball stud (3).
  3. Install the strut (2) to the rear compartment lid ball stud (1).
