The vehicle frame is mounted to the body by means of thick
rubber insulators. These insulators are specifically designed for each location
to give the proper amount of structure strength while, at the same time,
providing maximum road noise isolation. The vehicle frame insulators consist
of an upper spacer, upper insulator, lower insulator, lower retainer and
a through bolt. Improper frame insulator installations may result in the following
problems:
• | Snapping noise on braking and accelerating. |
The above problems can sometimes be caused by the wrong part being installed
or the insulator not being properly tightened. Squeaks may be caused by an
improperly located or torqued insulator. If a concern has been an insulator,
check to ensure the proper insulator was installed and check body bolt torque.
