Tools Required

Sealant (Cold Knife) Remover |

• | Cartridge-type Caulking Gun |
• | Commercial-type Utility Knife |
Removal Procedure
Important: Before cutting out a quarter window, apply a double layer of masking
tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.
- Open the liftgate.
- Remove the upper quarter trim. Refer to
Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
Caution: If broken glass falls into the defroster outlets, it can be blown into
the passenger compartment and cause personal injury.
- Cover to protect the following parts from broken glass:

Caution: When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough
edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves in order to reduce
the chance of personal injury.
Caution: If a window is cracked but still intact, crisscross the window with
masking tape in order to reduce the risk of damage or personal injury.
- When cutting out the quarter window use care not to damage
the reveal molding (2) and locators (1) that are attached around the perimeter
of the quarter window, if damaged the window must be replaced.
Important: Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the quarter window. Do this
from inside the vehicle to protect the outer painted surface.
- This will allow the urethane adhesive to be separated from the quarter
window.
• | Leave a base of urethane on the pinchweld flange. |
• | The only suitable lubrication is clear water. |
• | Use the J 24402-A
, J 39032
or equivalent in order
to remove the quarter window. |
- With the aid of an assistant,
remove the quarter window from the opening.
Installation Procedure
- Install the quarter window into the opening. Refer to
Adhesive Installation of Stationary Windows
.
- Install the upper quarter window trim panel. Refer to
Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement
in
Interior Trim.
- Remove the double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of
the painted surfaces and the interior trim.
- Close the liftgate.
Quarter Window Replacement Buick
Tools Required

• | Isopropyl Alcohol or Equivalent |
• | Cartridge-type Caulking Gun |
• | Commercial-type Utility Knife |
Removal Procedure
Important: Before cutting out a stationary window, apply a double layer of masking
tape around the perimeter of the painted surfaces and the interior trim.
- Open the liftgate.
- Remove the upper quarter trim. Refer to
Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
Notice: In order to avoid damaging the antenna lead connector, follow these
guidelines:
• | Use a plastic tool and carefully pry the connector from the window. |
• | Do NOT pull on the connector, which may be stuck to the urethane
adhesive or the headliner. |
- Disconnect the antenna lead located on the rear quarter
window, if equipped.
- Disconnect the OnStar™ Connector located on the rear quarter
window, if equipped.
Important: Keep the cutting edge of the tool against the window. Do this from inside
the vehicle to protect the painted surface.
- This will allow the urethane adhesive to be separated from the window.

- If the original reveal molding on the quarter window is damaged
it must be replaced.
- With the aid of an assistant,
remove the quarter window (1) from the opening.
Installation Procedure
- Install a stationary window into the opening. Refer to
Adhesive Installation of Stationary Windows
.
- Connect the antenna lead
located on the rear quarter window, if equipped.
- Connect the OnStar™ Connector located on the rear quarter
window, if equipped.
- Install the upper quarter trim. Refer to
Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the double layer of masking tape around the perimeter of
the painted surfaces and the interior trim.
- Check the radio and the On-Star ™ system if equipped to
verify reception.
- Close the liftgate window.
