Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information in the J Platform Service Manual.
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling of the J Platform Service Manual.

  3. Object Number: 927432  Size: SH
  4. Loosen the clamp that retains the hose to the underbody pipe (4, 5).
  5. Disconnect the underbody pipe from the hose.

  6. Object Number: 798433  Size: SH
  7. Remove the coolant line bracket bolt (2) at the rear axle mount.

  8. Object Number: 927498  Size: SH
  9. Remove the coolant line bracket bolt (3) near the gasoline fuel filter mount (2).

  10. Object Number: 384173  Size: SH
  11. Loosen the clamp that retains the coolant hose (1, 2) to the high pressure regulator (HPR) (3).
  12. Remove the coolant hose (1,2) from the HPR (3).

  13. Object Number: 384168  Size: SH
  14. Remove the coolant line bracket bolts (2, 3, 4).
  15. Observe the location of the coolant line isolators (1) in order to properly position the isolators during installation.

  16. Remove the coolant line bracket bolts (4).
  17. Observe the location of the coolant line isolators (5, 7) in order to properly position the isolators during installation.

  18. Remove the coolant line from the bracket clips (3, 6).
  19. Remove the coolant line assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the bracket clips onto the coolant lines.

  2. Object Number: 384168  Size: SH
  3. Install the coolant line assembly into the vehicle.
  4. Ensure that the coolant line isolators (1) are properly positioned as observed during the removal procedure.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the coolant line bracket bolts (2, 3, 4).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (7 lb ft).

  7. Install the bracket clips (3, 6) onto the coolant lines.
  8. Ensure that the coolant line isolators (5, 7) are properly positioned as observed during the removal procedure.

  9. Install the coolant line bracket bolts (4).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (7 lb ft).

  11. Install the coolant line bracket bolt (2) at the rear axle mount.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (7 lb ft).

  13. Connect the heater hose to the underbody pipe (4, 5).
  14. Install the clamp that retains the hose to the underbody pipe.

  15. Object Number: 384173  Size: SH
  16. Install the hose (1, 2) and the clamp on the HPR (3).
  17. Lower the vehicle.
  18. Fill the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling in the J Platform Service Manual.
