Headlining Trim Panel Replacement Without Sunroof

Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 868305  Size: SH
  1. Remove the front seats. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Replacement .
  2. Remove the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement .
  3. Remove the center console. Refer to Console Replacement .
  4. Remove the windshield pillar garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  5. Remove the front assist handle. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  6. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  7. Remove the center pillar garnish moldings. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  8. Remove the rear door upper garnish trim. Refer to Rear Door Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  9. Remove the rear sail trim panels. Refer to Sail Panel Replacement
  10. Remove the overhead console. Refer to Compartment and UGDO Replacement - Overhead .
  11. Remove the rear assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle and Rear Coat Hook Replacement .
  12. Disconnect the headliner wiring harness connectors.
  13. • At the rear view mirror
    • At the right center pillar
    • Behind the rear passenger seat location

    Notice: Use care when removing and installing the headliner. If reusing the headliner lay the headliner down flat on a clean surface. Excessive bending will damage the headliner.

  14. Carefully pull the headliner down and cut the adhesive beads retaining the headliner to the cardboard insulator.

  16. With the aid of an assistant, remove the headliner through the rear passenger door opening.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use care when removing and installing the headliner. If reusing the headliner lay the headliner down flat on a clean surface. Excessive bending will damage the headliner.

  1. With the aid of an assistant, load the headliner into the vehicle through the rear passenger door opening.
  2. Raise the headliner into position.

  4. Connect the headliner wiring harness connectors.
  5. • Behind the rear passenger seat location
    • At the right center pillar
    • At the rear view mirror
  6. Install the rear assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle and Rear Coat Hook Replacement .
  7. Install the overhead console. Refer to Compartment and UGDO Replacement - Overhead .
  8. Install the rear sail trim panels. Refer to Sail Panel Replacement .
  9. Install the rear door upper garnish trim. Refer to Rear Door Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  10. Install the center pillar garnish moldings. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  11. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  12. Install the front assist handle. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  13. Install the windshield pillar garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  14. Install the center console. Refer to Console Replacement .
  15. Install the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement .
  16. Install the front seats. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Replacement .

Headlining Trim Panel Replacement With Sunroof

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the front seats. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Replacement in Seats.
  2. Remove the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement in Seats.
  3. Remove the center console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  4. Remove the windshield pillar garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  5. Remove the front assist handle. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  6. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  7. Remove the center pillar garnish moldings. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  8. Remove the rear door upper garnish trim. Refer to Rear Door Upper Garnish Molding Replacement .
  9. Remove the rear sail trim panels. Refer to Sail Panel Replacement
  10. Remove the overhead console. Refer to Compartment and UGDO Replacement - Overhead .
  11. Remove the rear assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle and Rear Coat Hook Replacement .
  12. Disconnect the headliner wiring harness connectors.
  13. • At the rear view mirror
    • At the right center pillar
    • Behind the rear passenger seat location

  14. Pull the headliner down in order to release the headliner.

  16. With the aid of an assistant, remove the headliner through the rear passenger door opening.

  14. Install the center console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  15. Install the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement in Seats.
