Removal Procedure
Caution: This vehicle has energy-absorbing foam blocks for side impact protection.
To help avoid personal injury in a collision, foam blocks that are damaged,
or removed during repairs must be replaced. Failure to replace foam blocks
that are removed can violate federal law.
- Open the door.
- Remove the rear door trim pad. Refer to
Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement

- Remove the rear door water deflector. Refer to
Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement
.
- Grasp the energy absorber pad with both hands and pull rearward
to release it from the door. If necessary, warm the inner door panel to soften the
adhesive.
- Remove the inner energy absorber pad from the door.
Installation Procedure
- Clean the rear inner door panel using a
50/50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water by volume on a dampened lint free
cloth before reinstalling the energy absorber pad.
- Remove the double backed protective tape backing from the door inner energy
absorber pad.
- Install the energy absorber pad (1) to the door.
- Install the rear door water deflector. Refer to

- Install the rear door trim pad. Refer to
Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Close the door.
