THE PROCEDURES IN THIS BULLETIN SERVE AS ADDITIONS TO THE PROCEDURES WHICH ALREADY EXIST IN SECTION 4D "UNIT REPAIR" FOR THE "DRIVE AXLE ASSEMBLY" IN THE 1994 GEO METRO SERVICE MANUAL (ST370-94).
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT (THE FOLLOWING STEP SHOULD BE PERFORMED BETWEEN STEP 1 AND STEP 2.)
. DRIVE SHAFT DUST COVER FROM DRIVE AXLE ASSEMBLY.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
J41130 - DRIVE AXLE DUST COVER INSTALLER
(THIS STEP SHOULD BE PERFORMED AFTER STEP 7 AND THE "INSPECT" PROCEDURE.)
8. DRIVE AXLE DUST COVER TO DRIVE AXLE ASSEMBLY USING J41130 (FIGURE 12).
. PRESS DRIVE AXLE DUST COVER ONTO DRIVE AXLE ASSEMBLY BY THREADING NUT ONTO DRIVE AXLE SHAFT. TIGHTEN UNTIL J41130 IS IN CONTACT WITH THE WHEEL SIDE JOINT (AT THIS POINT, DRIVE AXLE DUST COVER IS SET AT PROPER DEPTH). DAMAGE TO THE TOOL MAY OCCUR IF OVER TIGHTENED.
