- Install the extension rod onto the extension rod mounting
stud.
Use two washers and the extension rod retaining nut (2) in
order to secure the extension rod.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the extension rod to the gearshift control lever guide plate.
Use four gearshift control lever guide plate bolts (2) in order to secure
the extension rod.
Tighten
• | Tighten the gearshift control lever guide plate bolts (2) to 10 N·m
(89 lb in). |
• | Tighten the extension rod retaining nut to 40 N·m (29 lb ft). |

Use the gearshift control shaft front through bolt and nut (4)
in order to secure the gearshift control shaft joint.
Tighten
Tighten the gearshift control shaft front through
bolt and nut (4) to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install the gearshift control shaft (3)
to the transaxle gearshift shaft (5).
Use the gearshift control
joint through bolt and nut (6) in order to secure the gearshift control shaft.
- Install the gearshift control shaft (3) to the gearshift control
