Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the throttle valve (TV) cable adjustment cover (2).
  2. Remove the TV cable (1) from the accelerator cable and the retaining bracket.
  3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  4. Place a drain pan or suitable container under the transaxle fluid pan.
  5. Remove the transaxle drain plug from the transaxle fluid pan and drain the transaxle fluid.

  7. Remove the transaxle fluid pan guard (3), the fluid pan (2) and the fluid pan gasket (1).

  8. Object Number: 179484  Size: SH
  9. Remove the TV cable (2) from the throttle valve cam (1).
  10. Remove the TV cable from the transaxle case.
  11. Inspect the TV cable O-ring for cuts or other damage. Replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the TV cable (2) into the transaxle case.
  2. Install the TV cable to the throttle valve cam (1).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the new fluid pan gasket, the fluid pan and the fluid pan guard. Secure the items with fifteen bolts. Refer to Changing Fluid and Cleaning Filter Screen.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the transaxle fluid pan bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  6. Tighten the transaxle drain plug to the transaxle fluid pan.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the transaxle drain plug to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Install the TV cable to the accelerator cable.
  10. Install the TV cable and the accelerator cable into the retaining bracket.

  11. Install the TV cable adjustment cover.
  12. Refill the transaxle fluid as necessary. Refer to Transaxle Fluid Information.
