    • J 36850 Transjel® Transmission Assembly Lubricant

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  2. Object Number: 179534  Size: SH
  3. Remove 3 transaxle fluid pan bolts (1) .

  4. Object Number: 203971  Size: SH
  5. Install J 35534 . Tighten the adjustment bolt on the J 35534 until you can remove the snap ring from the servo cover (1).

  6. Object Number: 179539  Size: MH
  7. Remove the servo cover snap ring (11).
  8. Remove the J 35534 after slowly loosening adjustment bolt.
  9. Remove the following components:
  10. • The servo cover (10)
    • The servo piston (7)
    • The springs (4,5)
    • The piston rod (1)
  11. Inspect the intermediate servo assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 179539  Size: MH

    Notice: After making sure all parts are clean, liberally apply J 36850 to all servo parts prior to assembly. This serves to prelubricate seals and to ensure ease of assembly.

  1. Install the following components:
  2. • The piston rod (1)
    • The springs (4,5)
    • The piston (7)
    • The piston cover

  3. Install J 35534 and tighten the adjustment bolt in order to install the snap ring on the servo cover (1).
  4. Install the servo cover snap ring.
  5. Remove the J 35534 .

  6. Object Number: 179534  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install three transaxle fluid pan bolts (1) .
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the fluid pan bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Refill the transaxle, as necessary. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check .
