Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

    Important: Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the one vacuum hose (1) from the fuel pressure regulator.
  3. Remove the one clamp and fuel return hose (2) from the fuel pressure regulator (3).

  5. Remove the two bolts and the fuel pressure regulator from the fuel rail.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1579448  Size: SH
  1. Install the fuel pressure regulator (1) to the fuel rail; secure with two bolts.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the fuel pressure regulator bolts to 9.3 N·m (82 lb in).

  3. Install the fuel return hose (2) to the pressure regulator; secure with one clamp.
  4. Connect the one vacuum hose (1) to the fuel pressure regulator.
  5. Important: Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and momentarily connect a jumper between DLC terminal +B and Fp to pressurize the fuel system. Check for any fuel leaks.

  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable-to-negative battery terminal retainer to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
