Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1579812 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector.

    3. Loosen the air cleaner (ACL) hose clamp bolt.

  3. Remove the four cap clips from the ACL.
  4. Remove the ACL hose (1) and cap (2) from the engine compartment.

  5. Remove the EGR vacuum regulator solenoid (2) valve-to-EGR valve vacuum hose from the EGR valve (3) and the EGR hose from the bottom of the EGR pressure transducer (1).

    6. Object Number: 1579814 Size: MH
  6. Remove the two nuts, gaskets and EGR valve from the vehicle.
  7. Inspect the EGR valve (1) for heavy carbon deposits and sticking. Replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1579814 Size: MH
  1. Install a new gasket and EGR valve (1) to intake manifold; secure with two nuts.

    2. Object Number: 1579813 Size: SH
  2. Install the EGR vacuum regulator solenoid-to-EGR valve vacuum hose to EGR valve (3) and EGR hose to the bottom of the EGR pressure transducer (1).
  3. Remove the ACL hose (1) and cap-to-engine compartment.

    4. Object Number: 1579812 Size: SH
  4. Remove the four cap clips to the ACL.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the ACL hose clamp bolts to 2.5 N·m (11 lb in).

  5. Install the IAT sensor electrical connector.
  6. Install the negative battery cable.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable-to-negative battery terminal retainer to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
