Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1578847  Size: SH
  1. Remove the relieve fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.
  2. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling the Cooling System.
  3. Remove the accelerator cable and cruise control cable (If equipped) from Air Cleaner (ACL) assembly clip
  4. Remove the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector.
  5. Loosen the air cleaner (ACL) hose clamp bolt on the throttle body.

  6. Remove the four cap clips from the ACL.
  7. Remove the ACL hose and cap from the throttle body.
  8. Remove the two nuts and accelerator cable from the cable bracket (1) and throttle lever.
  9. Remove the two nuts and throttle valve (TV) cable from the cable bracket and the throttle lever (automatic transaxle only).
  10. Remove the two bolts and the accelerator cable bracket throttle body.
  11. Remove the two exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) vacuum hoses from the throttle body.
  12. Remove the one evaporative emissions (EVAP) vacuum hose from the throttle body.
  13. Remove the one throttle opener vacuum hose from the throttle body.
  14. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
  15. Disconnect the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector.
  16. Remove the two clamps and the engine coolant hoses and air hose from IAC valve.
  17. Remove the two nuts, two bolts and throttle body from the intake manifold.
  18. Remove the throttle body gasket from the throttle body.

Disassemble Procedure

  1. Remove the four screws and IAC (1) valve and gasket from throttle body.

  2. Object Number: 1578849  Size: SH
  3. Remove the two screws and TP sensor from throttle body (1).
  4. Remove the two screws and throttle opener from the throttle body.

Assemble Procedure

  1. Install the throttle opener to the throttle body; secure with two screws.
  2. Install the TP sensor to throttle body; secure with two screws.

  3. Object Number: 1578848  Size: SH
  4. Install the IAC valve and new gasket to the throttle body; secure with four screws.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1578847  Size: SH
  1. Install a new throttle body gasket to the throttle body.
  2. Install the throttle body to intake manifold; secure with two nuts and two bolts.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the throttle body nuts and bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft.).

  4. Install the two engine coolant hoses and air hose to the IAC valve; secure with two clamps.
  5. Connect the IAC valve electrical connector.
  6. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
  7. Connect one EVAP vacuum hose to the throttle body.
  8. Connect one throttle opener vacuum hose to throttle body.
  9. Connect the two EGR vacuum hoses to throttle body.
  10. Install the accelerator cable bracket to throttle body; secure with two bolts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the accelerator cable bracket bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in.)

  12. Install the throttle valve cable to cable bracket and throttle lever; secure with two nuts (automatic transaxle only). Do not tighten fully. Refer to the Throttle Valve Adjustment .
  13. Install the accelerator cable to cable bracket and throttle lever; secure with two nuts.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the accelerator cable adjusting nuts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  15. Install the ACL hose and cap to throttle body.
  16. Connect the four cap clips to ACL.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the ACL hose clamp bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft.).

  18. Connect the IAT sensor electrical connector.
  19. Install the accelerator cable and cruise control cable (If equipped) from ACL assembly clip.
  20. Refill the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling the Cooling System.
  21. Connect the negative (-) battery cable.
  22. Tighten
    Tighten the negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 15 N·m (11 lb ft.).

  23. Adjust the TP sensor and throttle opener. Refer to Throttle Opener Idle Speed Adjustment.
  24. Turn the ignition switch to "ON" and momentarily connect a jumper between DLC terminals +B and Fp to pressurize the fuel system. Check for any fuel leaks.
