Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the engine coolant.
  3. Remove the two vacuum hoses from the evaporative emission thermal vacuum valve (1).
  4. Remove the EVAP thermal vacuum valve from the intake manifold.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1579463  Size: SH
  1. Apply the RTV silicon sealant, GM P/N 105297, or equivalent to two or three threads of EVAP thermal vacuum valve.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the circuit opening relay bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  3. Install the EVAP thermal vacuum valve to the intake manifold.
  4. Install the two hoses to EVAP thermal vacuum valve.
  5. Refill the engine coolant.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable-to-negative battery cable terminal retainer to 15N·m (11 lb ft).
