Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the four clamps, both the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hoses (2) and the PCV valve (1) from the engine and intake plenum.

Inspection Procedure

  1. Inspect the PCV valve operation.
  2. Connect a clean hose to the cylinder head side of the PCV valve (2).
  3. Remove the hose from the intake manifold side (1) of the PCV valve (2) and connect it to the intake manifold side of the valve.

  5. Blow the air into the intake manifold side and make sure that the air passes through with difficulty.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1579832  Size: SH
  1. Install the PCV hoses and valve to engine and intake plenum; secure with the four clamps.
  2. Connect the negative battery cable.
  3. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable-to-negative battery terminal retainer to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
