Removal Procedure
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.
- Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Daring and Refilling the Cooling System.
- Remove the accelerator cable and the cruise control cable (if equipped) from air cleaner (ACL) assembly clip.
- Disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector.
Loosen the ACL hose clamp bolt on throttle body.
- Remove the 4 cap clips from the ACL.
- Remove the ACL hose and cap from the throttle body.
- Remove the 2 nuts and the accelerator cable from the cable bracket (1) and throttle lever.
- Remove the 2 nuts and the throttle valve cable from the cable bracket and throttle lever (automatic transaxle only).
- Remove the 2 bolts and accelerator cable bracket from the throttle body.
- Remove the 2 exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) vacuum hoses from the throttle body.
- Remove the one evaporative emissions (EVAP) vacuum hose from the throttle body.
- Remove the one throttle opener vacuum hose from the throttle body.
- Disconnect the TP sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector.
- Remove the 2 clamps and engine coolant hoses and air hose from IAC valve.
- Remove the 2 nuts, 2 bolts and the throttle body from the intake manifold.
- Remove the throttle body gasket from the throttle body.
Disassemble Procedure
- Remove the 4 screws and the IAC (1) valve and the gasket from the throttle body.
- Remove the 2 screws and the TP sensor (2) from the throttle body (1).
- Remove the 2 screws and the throttle opener from the throttle body.
Assemble Procedure
- Install the throttle opener to throttle body (1); secure with 2 screws.
- Install the TP sensor (2) to the throttle body; secure with 2 screws.
- Install the IAC (1) valve and the new gasket to the throttle body; secure with 4 screws.
Installation Procedure
- Install a new throttle body gasket to throttle body.
- Install the throttle body to the intake manifold; secure with 2 nuts and 2 bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the throttle body nuts and bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
- Install the 2 engine coolant hoses and air hose to IAC valve; secure with 2 clamps.
- Connect the IAC valve electrical connector.
- Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
- Connect the one EVAP vacuum hose to throttle body.
- Connect the one throttle opener vacuum hose to throttle body.
- Connect the 2 EGR vacuum hoses to throttle body.
- Install the accelerator cable bracket to throttle body; secure with 2 bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the accelerator cable bracket bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).
- Install the throttle valve cable to cable bracket and throttle lever; secure with 2 nuts (automatic transaxle only). Do not tighten fully. Refer to TV Cable Adjustment in Automatic Transaxle.
- Install the accelerator cable to cable bracket (1) and throttle lever; secure with 2 nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the accelerator cable adjusting nuts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
- Install the ACL hose and cap to throttle body.
- Connect the 4 cap clips to the ACL.
Tighten
Tighten the ACL hose clamp bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
- Connect the IAT sensor electrical connector
- Install the accelerator cable and cruise control cable (If equipped) from ACL assembly clip.
- Refill the engine coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling the Cooling System.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
Tighten
Tighten the negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 15 N·m (11 lb ft.).
- Adjust TP sensor and throttle opener. Refer to Throttle Opener Idle Speed Adjustment.
- Turn the ignition switch to "ON" and momentarily connect a jumper between DLC terminals +B and Fp to pressurize the fuel system. Check for any fuel leaks.
