Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the carpet retainer from the carpet retaining bracket.
  3. Pull back the carpet from the floor under the glove.
  4. Remove the 2 bolts.
  5. Remove the ECM/PCM (1) with carpet retainer bracket (2) from mounting bracket (3).
  6. Disconnect the 3 electrical connectors from the ECM/PCM.
  7. Remove the one screw and carpet retaining bracket from the ECM/PCM.
  8. Remove the plastic cover from the top of the ECM/PCM.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the plastic cover from the top of the ECM/PCM (2).
  2. Install the carpet retaining bracket (3) to the ECM/PCM.
  3. Secure the carpet retaining bracket with one screw.

  4. Object Number: 1578823  Size: SH
  5. Connect the 3 electrical connectors to the ECM/PCM.
  6. Position the ECM/PCM (2) into the mounting bracket (1), making sure that the bracket slides into slot.
  7. Attach the carpet retainer to mounting bracket.
  8. Secure the carpet retainer bracket with the 2 bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the ECM/PCM mounting bolts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  10. Attach the carpet to carpet retaining bracket by inserting carpet retainer into bracket.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the negative (-) battery cable-to-negative (-) battery terminal retainer to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
