A noise or vibration that is noticeable when the vehicle
is in motion may not be the result of the transaxle. If a noise or vibration
is noticeable in PARK or NEUTRAL with the engine at idle, but is less noticeable
as the engine RPM increases, the cause may be from poor engine performance.
- Inspect the tires for the following conditions:
• | Mixed radial and bias-ply. Refer to Tires and Wheels. |
- Inspect the suspension components for the following conditions:
• | Loose fasteners. Refer to Front Suspension. |
- Inspect the engine/transaxle mounts for the following conditions:
• | Excessive wear or damage |
• | Loose mounting bolts. Refer to Engine Mechanical. |
- Inspect the transaxle case mounting holes for the following conditions:
• | Missing bolts, nuts or studs |
- Inspect the flywheel for the following conditions:
• | Imbalance. Refer to Engine Mechanical. |
- Inspect the torque converter for the following conditions:
• | Missing or loose bolts or lugs |
• | Missing or loose balance weights |
• | Imbalance. Refer to Transmission/Transaxle/Transfer Case Unit
