Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the 6 bolts and left splash shield (1) from the vehicle.
- Place a drain pan or suitable container under the transaxle fluid cooler.
- Remove the following from the fluid cooler inlet hose and the outlet hose:
4.1. | The 1 clamp and the fluid cooler inlet hose |
4.2. | The 1 clamp and the fluid cooler outlet hose |
4.3. | The 1 clamp and the fluid cooler inlet hose |
4.4. | The 1 clamp and the fluid cooler outlet hose |
4.5. | Loosen the inlet and out let fluid cooler pipe flare nuts |
4.6. | The 1 bolt, the fluid cooler pipe bracket and the fluid cooler inlet and outlet pipes. |
- Inspect the transaxle fluid cooler hoses for leaks or fatigue. Replace as necessary.
- Inspect the fluid cooler pipes for kinks, leaks or other damage. Replace as necessary.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install or connect the fluid cooler inlet pipe, outlet pipe and bracket to the transaxle. Secure the transaxle with 1 bolt. Do not tighten fully.
Tighten
• | Tighten the inlet and outlet fluid cooler pipe flare nuts to 27 N·m (20 lb ft). |
• | Tighten the fluid cooler pipe bracket bolt to 5 N·m (44 lb in). |
- Install the following to the transaxle:
2.1. | The fluid cooler inlet hose to the fluid cooler inlet pipe. Secure with the 1 clamp. |
2.2. | The fluid cooler outlet hose to the transaxle fluid cooler. Secure with the 1 clamp. |
2.3. | The fluid cooler inlet hose to the transaxle fluid cooler. Secure with the 1 clamp. |
- Remove the drain pan from under the transaxle fluid cooler.
- Install left splash shield (1) to the vehicle. Secure with 6 bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the left splash shield bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Refill the transaxle, as necessary. Refer to
Transmission Fluid Check
.
