FRONT SEAT CHUCKING CONDITION CARPET BETWEEN FLOOR/SEAT

Model and Year: 1985 SPECTRUM

TO: ALL CHEVROLET DEALERS

CONDITION:

Some 1985 Spectrums with VIN numbers prior to 444391 may exhibit a chucking condition of the front seat. This condition can be due to the carpet being trapped between the seat mounting and the floor. This can cause a loss of retaining torque at the seat adjuster attachment nuts (2).

CORRECTION:

1. Remove (or sufficiently loosen) the seat adjuster nuts - see Page 10-34, Figure 10-72, Item 1 in 1985 Spectrum Shop Manual.

2. Remove carpet from underneath seat adjuster in area of attachment. Cut away excess carpet material.

3. Reinstall attaching nuts and torque to specification.

Use applicable labor operation numbers and labor time.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
