FRONT SEAT CHUCKING CONDITION CARPET BETWEEN FLOOR/SEAT

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1985 Chevrolet 'R' Car

CONDITION:

---------- Some 1985 'R' cars with VIN serial numbers prior to 444391 may exhibit a chucking condition of the front seat. This condition can be due to the carpet being trapped between the seat mounting and the floor. This can cause a loss of retaining torque at the seat adjuster attachment nuts (2).

CORRECTION:

----------- 1. Remove (or sufficiently loosen) the seat adjuster nuts - see Figure 10-72 Item 1 in Service Manual.

2. Remove carpet from underneath seat adjustment in area of attachment. Cut away excess carpet material.

3. Reinstall attaching nuts and torque to specification per Service Manual.

Use applicable labour operation numbers and labour time.
