This bulletin supercedes Chevrolet Dealer Service Bulletins 86-3 and 86-29 concerning 1986 Oklahoma City Production Color Matching of BO/CC Finishes, which should be destroyed.
1986 Celebrity models produced at the Oklahoma City plant are painted with the BC/CC system. Recently, the "WA" number on the service parts identification label (S.P.I.D) has been changed to aid in determining the correct refinish color for these vehicles. Starting with VIN 1G1AW19X7G6209924 the new "WA" numbers will appear on the S.P.I.D. label.
When refinishing all 1986/87 Oklahoma City vehicles, the corresponding refinish color to these new "WA" numbers must be used to achieve an acceptable color match. To aid in identifying this plant, the eleventh position in the VIN number will be a "6". See attached list for correct "WA" numbers for each color.
Follow the paint manufacturer's recommendations when repairing the BC/CC finishes.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
