CHOKE VALVE- THERMO-WAX CONTROLLED VALVE REPAIR

1985 "M" SERIES VEHICLES ARE EQUIPPED WITH AN ASIAN TWO-BARREL DOWNDRAFT TYPE CARBURETOR, THAT INCORPORATES AN AUTOMATIC 'THERMO-WAX' CONTROLLED CHOKE VALVE IN THE PRIMARY SYSTEM. THE THERMO-WAX ELEMENT IS ATTACHED TO THE AIR HORN, AND IS PRE- CALIBRATED AT THE FACTORY. NO ATTEMPT SHOULD BE MADE TO ADJUST THIS COMPONENT AT EITHER THE THERMO-WAX ELEMENT PISTON TO CAM FOLLOWER LEVER, OR AT THE RACK GEAR TO PINION SUPPORT ARM. YOU WILL NOTE THESE ATTACHMENT POINTS ARE WHITE PAINT DABBED AT THE TIME OF FACTORY CALIBRATION. THE SERVICE AIR HORN ASSEMBLY, P/N 96053395, INCLUDES THE FACTORY CALIBRATED THERMO-WAX ELEMENT. IF A WAX ELEMENT OR ITS LINK SYSTEMS ARE DETERMINED TO BE INOPERATIVE, THE AIR HORN ASSEMBLY MUST BE REPLACED.
