W/S WASHER BUTTON DEFORMS IN HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURE

SUBJECT: WINDSHIELD WASHER BUTTON DEFORMS IN HIGH AMBIENT TEMPERATURE (REPLACE PLASTIC BUTTON)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1990 SPRINT/FIREFLY

Some 1990 Sprint/Fireflys may experience a deformation of the windshield washer button (located on the upper right hand horizontal surface of the instrument panel) during hot ambient temperature.

Should this occur, it is no longer necessary to replace the entire switch assembly. The plastic button by itself may now be ordered by using P/N #96065308.

The old button can be removed by grasping it by the fingers and pulling straight up (it's retained by a press fit) . The new part may then be pressed in its place.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
