Speedometer Drive Gear Replacement for Geo Tracker - 2WD 1997

1. Remove the gearshift control lever from the gearshift lever case. Refer to Gearshift Control Lever Replacement .
2. Remove the extension case from the transmission. Refer to Extension Case Replacement .



3. Remove the following items from the main shaft:

•	The speedometer drive gear retaining ring (2).

•	Speedometer drive gear (1).

4. Inspect the speedometer drive gear for excessive wear or damage. Replace as necessary.

1. Install the speedometer drive gear (1) into the main shaft; secure with the speedometer drive gear retaining ring (2).
2. Install the extension case to the transmission. Refer to Extension Case Replacement .
3. Install the gearshift control lever into the gearshift lever case. Refer to Gearshift Control Lever Replacement .
