In the brake booster adjustment procedure found on page 5-49 of the 1989-91 Geo Metro Service Manuals (ST370-89, ST370-90 and ST370-91, respectively) and on page 5D-1 (Figures 2 and 3) of the 1989-91 Geo Tracker Service Manuals (ST377-89, ST377-90 and ST377-91, respectively, there is a discrepancy in the Kent-Moore tool number for the booster piston rod gage. The J-39567 booster piston rod gage should be used, not J-34873-A (Figures 1 and 2).
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
