Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the following items from the floor:
  2. • The two screws.
    • The two plastic retainers.
    • The rear console box.

  3. Remove the following items from the floor:
  4. • The two screws.
    • The two plastic retainers.
    • The front console box (2).
  5. Remove the gearshift control lever knob from the gearshift control lever (1) by unscrewing gearshift control lever knob counterclockwise.

  7. Remove the gearshift control lever upper boot (1) from the gearshift control lever.
  8. Remove the following items from the gearshift control lever:
  9. • The four bolts.
    • The boot plate.
    • The console box bracket (6).
    • The gearshift control lever lower boot (2).
    • The gearshift control lever.
  10. Remove the following items from the gearshift lever case:
  11. • The clamp (4).
    • The gearshift lever case boot (5).
  12. Remove the gearshift control lever from the gearshift lever case. Push down on the gearshift control lever pivot and turn counterclockwise 90 degrees (¼ turn) and lift up.
  13. Inspect the gearshift control lever (1) for distortion or damage. Replace the gearshift if necessary.
  14. Inspect the gearshift control lever spring for distortion or damage. Replace the gearshift control lever spring.
  15. Inspect the gearshift lever case boot (5) for tears or damage. Replace the gearshift lever case boot (5) if necessary.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 168212  Size: SH
  1. Install the gearshift control lever into the gearshift lever case and push down on the shift control lever pivot (4) and turn clockwise 90 degrees (¼ turn) and release.
  2. Install the gearshift lever case boot (1) to the gearshift lever case (4); secure with a clamp.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the following items onto the gearshift control lever with the four bolts:
  5. • The gearshift control lever lower boot (2).
    • The boot plate (3).
    • The console box bracket (6).

    Tighten
    Tighten the gearshift control lever lower boot plate (2) bolts to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  6. Install the gearshift control lever upper boot (1) onto the gearshift control lever.
  7. Install the gearshift control knob onto the gearshift control lever by screwing clockwise.

  9. Install the front console box (2) to the floor. Secure the front console box with the two plastic retainers and the two screws.
  10. Install the rear console box (2) to the floor. Secure the rear console box with the two plastic retainers and the two screws.
