Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Retained Accessory Power?

Does only sunroof exhibit this symptom?

Go to Step 4

  1. Install a scan tool. Select diagnostic circuit check and then class 2 power mode.
  2. Close all the doors.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Wait 5 seconds then turn the ignition OFF.
  5. Wait the time-out for RAP.

Did the scan tool display the RAP power mode, then time-out and display Off-Awake power mode?

Go to Step 4

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the sunroof relay.

Does the sunroof operate?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Repair the short to battery in the sunroof supply voltage circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 12

  1. Open the driver door.
  2. Connect a test lamp across the relay coil circuits of the sunroof relay.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

Test the RAP supply voltage circuit for a short to B+.

Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF, when testing for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Inspect for poor connections at the sunroof relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the sunroof relay.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 12

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Important:: Perform the module setup procedure if required.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Control Module References in Body Control System.
