Models: | . |
When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
This message pertains to the 2003 Hummer H2. Should a customer detect a front-end clunk or oil canning sound that tends to occur over certain road conditions, the possible causes could be one of the following: First, check the fasteners of the battery tray to ensure they are tight. Second, check the hood for lateral movement; any movement can be removed by raising the height on the hood bumper. Third, verify that the fasteners on the front stabilizer bar link are tight. And, finally, the most difficult to diagnose is oil canning of the front left hand fender inner panel. If this is suspected, it can be eliminated by dimpling or distorting the metal of the fender inner panel.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
