When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

SERVICE VME

This message applies to the 2003 Hummer H2. Should you observe white stains on the rear endgate, license plate pocket or bumper cover the source is residue from the rear window washer system. Cyling the system 10 to 12 times should clear the system. To clean the components, use alcohol then apply wax or Armor All®. A check valve has been released for production to prevent this condition from happening. Some vehicles may have been built without a rear window washer check valve. A service procedure has been developed for vehicles without the check valve.

Recommendation/Instructions:

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

  1. Open the rear lift gate.
  2. Remove the two bolts that retain the cargo tie downs and remove the tie downs.
  3. Remove the bolt that retains the pull strap to the lift gate and remove the pull strap.
  4. Remove the two push-in retainers.
  5. Gently pull on the lift gate trim panel in order to disengage the retaining clips.
  6. Remove the lift gate trim panel from the vehicle.
  7. Locate the rear window washer hose where it passes through the lift gate sheet metal to the wiper arm.
  8. Measure the hose from the pass through connector 76 mm (3 in) back and cut the hose.
  9. Install washer check valve, P/N 22102237 with the arrow pointing towards the pass through connector on the lift gate sheet metal.
  10. Tape the washer check valve to the lift gate wiring harness with black electrical tape or equivalent.
  11. Install the lift gate trim panel to the vehicle.
  12. Gently press the trim panel in order to fully seat the retaining clips into the lift gate.
  13. Install the two plastic push in retainers.
  14. Install the lift gate pull down handle and bolt.
  15. Install the two cargo tie downs and bolts.
  16. Close the lift gate.
  17. Verify the operation of the rear window washer.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
