Engine Continues to Run When You Take the Key Out of the Ignition - kw control brake switch open B1440 run relay start part information electrical short

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Engine continues to run when you take the key out of the ignition. You may also find the BCM has code B1440 stored in history. Engine will shut off if you remove the ignition 1 relay or if you dimmed the dash lights.

Feedback or a short in the traction control switch between ckt 230 (dash light/back lighting/dimming) backfeeding to ckt 639 which would keep the ignition relay turned on. Replace Brake System/Traction Control switch PN 15163633.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
