High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement SUV
Removal Procedure
- Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to
Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement
in Body Rear End.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the high mounted stop lamp.
- Remove the retaining screws.
- Remove the grommet from the liftgate.
- Remove the lamp, with the attached harness, from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the lamp, with the attached harness, to the vehicle.
- Install the grommet to the liftgate.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the retaining screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 3 N·m (26 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connector to the high mounted stop lamp.
- Install the liftgate trim panel. Refer to
Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement
in Body Rear End.
High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement SUT
Removal Procedure
- Carefully lower the rear headliner in order to access the electrical connector.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the center high mounted stop lamp (CHMSL).
- Remove the 2 screws securing the CHMSL to the exterior rear header garnish molding.
- Disconnect the electrical harness grommet from the rear header.
- Remove the CHMSL and attached electrical harness.
- Remove the foam gasket and discard if damaged.
Installation Procedure
- Install a new foam gasket.
- Install the lamp, with the attached harness, to the rear header.
- Secure the electrical harness grommet to the rear header.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the retaining screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 3 N·m (26 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connector for the CHMSL to the headliner harness.
- Re-secure the rear of the headliner.
